Random cuteness and Update: March 2011-May 2011

As you all know, I am now the mother of 2. That now means that I take each thing one at a time. My blog hasn't been as extravagant and as in depth as it used to be when I first started but that's not what's important, right? I am hoping that once I am completely caught up, I can go to my weekly blogging and keep you all up to date with my girlies. For now, I am playing catch up. Enjoy:

March 2011:

I made Ella a changer pad for her baby! A blanket too. I'm so crafty :)

It finally rained and Ella was able to try her umbrella out!

Milee's 2 week Doctor's Appointment

Milee had her 2 week doctors appointment on May 3rd. I've been putting off writing about it because it kind of depresses me. Milee is great, it has to do with something else that happened there. First off, let's talk about Milee.

I was crazy and just 15 days after Milee was born, I took BOTH GIRLS, by MYSELF to the doctor. It turned out fine, thank goodness.

Milee weighed 7lbs 15oz, so she was back at her birth weight which is excellent. She also grew an inch and a half which makes her 21.5 inches tall! Her head circumference was 41cm.

The doctor said that she looked great. She is eating well and is very healthy. We celebrated her being back at her birthweight and I asked him my questions.

First: is her bellybutton okay? She has had some bleeding discharge since her umbilical cord stump fell off when she was 7 days old, April 25, 2011. He cleaned it with alcohol and said it looked fine. It was then I told him it smelled a little funny. This was concerning but since I described the smell as dried blood, he said just keep an eye on it and if it gets a strong fecal smell, then to bring her back in. I'm pleased to announce that at nearly 4 weeks, it appears to be healed.

Second: there seems to be raised bumps underneath her nipples, is this normal? The doctor then proceeded to squeeze MILK out of her mammary glands! Apparently babies, including males, can produce a small amount of milk in their mammary glands until they have the mother's hormones out of their bodies. Crazy!

I then proceeded to tell him that we just love him and that I've recommended him several times and his answer is "thank you, but I am moving on June 3rd." He wasn't that blunt but basically told me that he has been asked to be the head of Medicare so he will no longer be a pediatrician. I said "Nooooo!" and said that I would try not to cry with him in the room. He then (starting to cry) said me too. Which made me just completely tear up. We have loved him as Ella's doctor and I was so excited to have him be Milee's as well. He gave us a referral, but it just won't be the same. It is change. I don't do well with change. I've done really well adapting to Milee and being a mom of 2 but having a new doctor as well. I truly thought I would end up going through the New Mommy Blues. Fortunately, despite my depression towards losing our doctor, I am doing super well. For a few days afterwards I did cry when I talked about losing Dr. Cramer, but I am able to talk about it now. It's like anything else. Once you find a product, or in this case, person that you just love, they move on. Let's hope we love our new Dr. just as much.
