Ella:
Ella had her 3 year doctors appointment on June 3, 2011. We were able to call and get an appointment where there was a cancellation with Dr. Cramer one last time (this was his last day). We filled out the 3 year development paperwork and were so amazed. A child Ella's age should just be developing sentences (at least 3 to 4 words) and our Ella is talking in paragraphs. She tells us stories and what she has done in the day, etc. She is so wonderful!
Ella weighed 27.8 lbs (25th percentile) and was 38.5 inches tall (80th percentile) with a 19.7 inch head circumference (75th percentile). She is still tall and skinny! Doc was so impressed with her speech and how well she could carry on a complete conversation. Physically she is in top notch shape. Ella is so wonderful! We are enjoying having a 3 year old in our house and look forward to each new conversation with her. She definitely keeps us entertained!
Milee:
It just kept spreading! It went from her face to her ears and then down her neck and onto her shoulders and then to the back of her neck. I knew this was not normal. Milee also wanted to eat every hour when she was awake and was a bit on the fussy side. I decided it was important to take her to the doc after the nurse said it was likely excema and we went and bought wash and lotion for excema. I just didn't think that was what it was. Doc said that she had classic baby acne and a definite food allergy. I immediately was thinking it was dairy as I was born allergic to milk. We decided to cut out basic dairy from my diet (milk, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc). I can still eat things that have milk in them but I try to avoid them as much as possible. Since then Milee has been so much better and the rash cleared up completely. I do, however, miss cheese soooooo much! I'd do anything for my children though and if this helps my sweet Milee Moo, I will do it. She weighed about 9.5 lbs at this appointment and she was approximately 5-6 weeks old.
Milee had her 2 month doctors appointment on June 23, 2011. We have been visiting our new pediatrician with her and based on this appointment, I think we are going to like him. He came into the room and immediately began talking to Ella and making her feel special.
Milee weighed 10.6 lbs (50th percentile) and was 23.5 inches tall (90th percentile) with a head circumference of 15.2 inches (50th percentile). Doc was so impressed by her development! She was so active, kicking her legs and moving her arms. She was also smiling (huge change from the last appointment where she screamed the whole time)! She allowed him to check her ears, mouth, and nose without a problem. She tried to stand while he was observing her development and he stated that "she is too young to be doing that!". He told me that Milee is approximately a month ahead developmentally. I think this is great although that means she is growing too fast! Milee has laughed (June 16, 2011 while I was making funny noises at her at the Evan's house) and is trying to grab things! What a big girl!
Milee also got 4 shots and an oral vaccine. I know shots are so important but it just kills my heart when they require you to hold your baby down while they administer them. Not fair to mom or dad or the baby. Milee cried in a way I had never heard her cry before and I bawled right with her. Sweet Ella kept saying "It's okay Milee. You will be okay Milee." What a great big sister! Milee is such a joy in our lives. We just love that she has joined our family and can't wait for what the future holds!
