Milee’s 6 month dr’s appointment

Milee had her 6 month drs appointment on Thursday, October 27, 2011. She weighed 14lbs and was 26 inches tall. Her head was 16.6 inches in circumference. The doctor was impressed that she was willing to stand while he held her hands and was pleased with her ability to sit up. He said she was very social and happy and he was very pleased with her development.

We asked about Milee’s problems with her bowel movements and he suggest mineral oil which eases in the passing of the stool but does not soften it. I am trying alternative methods as I am all for fixing the problem not just easing her way through it without fixing it.

When Milee got her shots one sprayed all over which was kind of a surprise but the nurse said that she got enough of it and that it wasn’t a big deal. Let’s hope she is right. Milee is awesome and healthy and soooooooooo fun! Love you sweetie!

Smith 010

I never did a post of Papa after he passed like I did with Grandma Winder and Grandma Barnes so what better time than to do it now, just after Veteran's Day.

My Papa was a wonderful man. He taught me so much about life and how to have a great work ethic. He was amazing. He served in the Army for 20 years, of which he then retired from, and then went to work for the Irrigation District which he then retired from and continued to do odd jobs until he passed. He was always going and always willing to help get things done.

He was also so strong. After having a triple bypass, he was out of the hospital in 3 days. He never complained.

Papa passed away May 13, 2010 after being informally diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was quick. 6 weeks after visiting the doc.

He was an amazing man. I miss him terribly and will be forever thankful that I was given the opportunity to have such a wonderful grandfather. My Papa.

A Quick Update with an Excuse!

I just wanted to do a quick update before I go through my list of what I have needed to blog about for a while to explain why I haven’t posted anything in a while when I was doing so well! I found that with blogger you are only allowed to use 1GB of memory for photos and videos. They store all of the photos and videos you post to your blog to a picasa album which only holds 1GB. After the GB you can either purchase additional storage OR you have to delete photos and videos which will in turn delete them from previous posts on your blog OR you have to use an external site like Flickr to store your photos and then post them to your blog using a URL (this takes FOREVER) OR you can use an offline blogging site and forego all of the hassle and expense of all of the above options. As you can see, I chose to use the offline blogging. The only problem with this option is that there is only one free one that I have found for the mac (the computer that we have all of the photos and videos on) and it doesn’t support blogger. So now I have to put all of my photos and videos on a thumb drive and use the PC. We will see how this goes, but if I want to be up to date with my blog by New Years, I am going to have to be speedy!

So there’s my excuse. WHAT A PAIN I must say! So now for the update on my sweet little girls. Sorry no photo included since I haven’t uploaded to the thumb drive yet. Photos and posts to soon follow…

Ella is growing so fast! She is learning more every day. She is such a big help with Milee and the other little girls that I watch. I just love to hear her tell me stories about the dreams that she has had or whatever her little imagination thinks up. She loves to give her babies names (some are a little strange) and loves to imagine doing things like going to the Temple, flying, going shopping, going to school, etc. One of the most recent things Ella said to us was that she had wings and that we could hang on to her wings and we could fly to church with her. It’s fun to ask her questions to expound on her story. For example, I asked her if I could come too (she had only offered to Daddy at this point) and she said sure! She told me to hang on to her wings and I could fly too. I then asked if I could bring Milee and if I could where would she go, she at first said that I could hold Milee, then proceeded to say that Milee had wings too and could fly as well. Oh the things my sweet kiddo comes up with. Ella is constantly and consistently complimented for how well behaved she is by her church leaders as well as friends. I am so proud to say that she is such a good, well behaved little girl. She sticks up for her sister and treats her so well. It just melts my heart. Ella has learned all of her letters, is learning the sounds and we will often hear her say things like “h h hair” and when asked what letter hair starts with she will say “h h hair starts with h!”. Amazing! It should be no trouble to teach her to read before Kindergarten! We love you and appreciate you so much ELLA!

Milee is also growing so much! She has just about mastered sitting up but still topples over which doesn’t bother her one bit because she HAS mastered rolling over! She just rolls from her front to her back rolling over her right arm and then from back to front rolling over her left arm. She hasn’t mastered the other direction. She can certainly get where she wants to go as long as there aren’t any obstacles within her rolling path. Milee also has a cute quirky little thing she does with her legs when laying on her back. She lifts them up and slams them down on the floor over and over. Sometimes I hear it and wonder what on Earth that noise is! Slam Slam Slam. Then I remember that it is sweet Milee. Milee also has a cute little thing that she does. When she is sitting on your lap and wants to grab something, she rocks back and forth as if it will propel her to the object she wants to grab. Soooo funny. I have a video I will upload soon. Milee is onto 2 meals a day of solids (I make her baby food myself! Soooo proud. I steam the fruits and veggies, puree them in our Magic Bullet (thanks Great Grandma and Grandpa Winston from our wedding 6 yrs ago), and then freeze them in my new Mumi and Bubbi freezer trays, then put them in ziplock baggies labeled with what they are. Milee has had some trouble being “regular” but we are trying to remedy that with prunes. I did think that I transitioned her too soon to 3 a day solids so I put her on solids once a day with just liquid the rest of the time. This helped but now with the 2 a day solids she is stopped up again. Doc is not worried and said to just give her a tsp of mineral oil each day. I was okay with this but it isn’t softening the #2 but just making it easier to come out and I’d rather make it softer. Anyway….Milee is great. She is fun! She has just discovered her tongue and smacks it around and sticks it out. Soooo cute. We love her so much and she is SUCH a happy baby! What a blessing!

One crazy thing Jared and I have recently noticed is that it seems there is somebody missing in our family. For example, when both girls are up it seems we still need to be quiet because there is still one sleeping. Strange to explain. Maybe this means that there is another little one in our future. We hope so!

To sum it up: Couldn’t blog for a while because of issues with storage on blogger, and my girls are amazing and I am sooooooooooooo blessed to be their mommy!
